After more than 25 years working in Big Brown Box retail, I have seen firsthand the problems caused by single-use bubble wrap. Every year, thousands of kilometres of plastic are used to wrap appliances and furniture, often far more than is needed. Once unwrapped, most of it goes straight into the bin.

At our small store alone, we went through approximately 10km of bubble wrap every year. Multiply that across countless stores and it adds up to thousands of kilometres of bubble wrap, tens of thousands of kilometres of sticky tape, and millions of wasted dollars, along with a heavy environmental impact.

The waste is staggering. I remember seeing a sofa set wrapped tightly in bubble wrap for delivery. The next day, after the sale was cancelled, the wrap was ripped off and thrown away, completely unrecoverable. That was the moment I knew there had to be a better way.
